Amanda And The Giant Wedding Gown! While dress shopping, it is difficult to decide what the right dress is without ever trying on a wedding dress before. I had an idea of what I wanted...something fitted and flaring in all the right spots.   On my first shopping trip with Mom, I showed her all of the dress styles I liked and had her choose ones she wanted me to try on. She found a very pretty princess style dress that she thought would look perfect on me. Princess style is typically very fitted on top with a full, flared ball-gown bottom.   Being a good sport and keeping an open mind, we wrestled this dress onto the platform. It was very heavy and what seemed like millions of layers of netting allowed the dress to stand on its own! I carefully climbed into the dress and it literally consumed me!  It was so big that Amanda (my best friend and matron of honor) was able to disappear under the dress along with the platform. Oh, and I should mention that she was eight months pregnant at the time!!!   It was so funny!   We unanimously decided that I would not try on any other princess style dresses.
